About Me
My name is Heather (also, known as Todd's mom), I grew up on a small farm in Central Point, Oregon with every animal you can think of, so my love for animals has always been strong! After I married my husband Bernie (the greatest man on earth) we both decided we would like to have a few acres where we could have animals. It took a few years but we finally found the perfect piece of property! We weren't really sure what sort of animals we wanted to raise yet but we weren't in a big hurry.
After living on our place for a couple of years Bernie decided he wanted to get goats because he thought they would keep the pastures eaten down and he wouldn't have to mow them anymore (LOLOL)! Note: it was his idea to get goats! We chose to get Boer Goats as one of his Co-Workers raised them. So we brought our foundation herd of 5 home. Of course I am the one who completely fell in love with them! I had not had a pet of my own for 7 years because Bernie is allergic to everything with fur, so they quickly started to fill that void. They each have their own unique personality to them. After our first year of kidding I knew there was no way I would ever be without my Goaties!
A few years later our son Todd got to visit our friend Terri's rabbit barn and became completely obsessed with the idea of raising rabbits. He was still pretty young at the time and we weren't quite ready for anymore critters yet. When he started the 4th grade and was old enough to be in 4-H we started talking about it and finally agreed to let him have a rabbit (It took the poor boy 3 years of begging). Terri helped us choose the perfect breed for Todd, Mini Lops! Terri also steered us in the right direction to a reputable breeder. Well, it ended up that he got 3 rabbits instead of one and well, the rest is really history. What was meant to be just a single pet rabbit turned out to be an entire project of breeding, attending Open rabbit shows and just an entire new world for us! After, attending his first show we noticed that quite a few breeders wore aprons. Since, I had learned to sew a few years earlier I decided to make one for Todd. It was just a basic cotton apron with a Mini Lop on it of course. Well, at the end of the next show it was completely covered in fur. Having an extreme OCD personality this was just not acceptable, so I set out to find a material that would repel anything liquid (you know the kind I am talking about) and that fur would wipe right off. It took making a few aprons with different materials but I finally figured it all out and made him and myself an apron. At the West Coast Classic show in 2014 I had received several compliments on them and was asked by a few breeders to make some for them. That was the start of everything! I had so much fun making each one, and even started having new rabbit breeds made into embroidery designs. It is my goal to have every breed available soon! I am constantly thinking about new and fun ideas for awards and gifts.
